Adult Education Classes

GED/ABE Prep Classes

GED prep courses are offered for students who do not have a high school diploma but wish to take the exams to gain their GED, a high school degree equivalency. Classes are instructed by caring and knowledgeable teachers on Tuesday and Thursday each week from 5:30 PM-8:00 PM during the school year at our location, 900 E Howell St, Building B, Philadelphia, PA, 19149. Participants are required to take a pre-test to determine the courses you will need to study.  The class is free, but there is a registration fee of $30  that covers the cost of books.

ELL Classes

The ELL (English Language Learning) classes are for those who want to improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Participants will learn English for work, home, and the community, along with US culture and citizenship skills. All levels are welcome and classes are taught by a dedicated and knowledgeable instructor.   The classes are free, but there is a registration fee of $30 that covers the cost of books.

You may choose one of three locations:

Evening ELL is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 PM-8:00 PM. Classes are in our main office building, located at 900 E Howell St, Building B, Philadelphia, PA 19149. There are four different class levels: Pre-Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Morning Beginner ELL is held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:15 AM. Classes are located at The Exchange, our thrift store. The address is 6434 Castor Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19149.

Morning Intermediate ELL is held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:15 AM. Classes are at Carnell Elementary School in the Family Resource Center, Room B-2. The address is 1100 Devereaux Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111. For more information, call 215-400-3150, option 6
